Jade, or Jadeite, has long been interpreted by Asians as symbol of good luck, good health, and possesses power to resist evil spirit and disaster. Color of the Jade are classified as green, white, icy (transparent white), brown, blackish, violet, reddish, lavender and yellow. Mostly produced in Myanmar, jadeite jade is most treasured for its vivid greens. Thus, it is also known as Feicui (翡翠).
Jade is most often sold by the piece rather than per carat. Although the overall color is the most vital value factor, attention is also drawn to its translucency, texture, carving and design. Certain designs, including moss in snow (Pea Green), are highly valued. |
